Our Mission

Why we exist.

Streetlives is an NYC-based non-profit that empowers unhoused individuals through digital products rooted in lived experience.

When someone is facing homelessness or is recently unhoused, their trauma is reinforced by not knowing what help is available. It is also not easy to ask for help in person. We develop collaborative technology solutions that connect service seekers to local resources and bridge the gap between nonprofits and their communities.

We trust and invest in lived experience and involve the community in every product, program, and process we develop. Our vision is a system where every person struggling with homelessness has the agency to make informed and confident decisions about which resources best meet their needs.

Our Solutions

What We Do.

Streetlives’ online platform YourPeer helps young people in New York City access supportive services to prevent homelessness. It is a priority initiative of Opportunity Starts with a Home: New York City's Plan to Prevent and End Youth Homelessness (learn more).

YourPeer was co-designed with young adults and provides information on free or low-cost local services such as food, shelter, housing, clothing, healthcare, personal care, and legal advice. Streetlives' lived-expert Community Information Specialists leverage their intersectional unhoused experiences to curate all content for accuracy and reliability.

YourPeer will continue to evolve to meet the diverse needs of New York's youth, adding feedback on service quality and live peer support, among other improvements. As the most reliable resource for service-seekers in NYC, Streetlives is establishing YourPeer as the go-to place for peer-powered information.
